How hard is it to install? Do I need any tools?
Installation

Installation takes less than 5 minutes and requires ZERO tools.

Here's the complete process:

  • Step 1: Clean the surface where you want to mount the light (use rubbing alcohol for best adhesion)
  • Step 2: Peel the backing off the 3M adhesive strip
  • Step 3: Press the magnetic mount firmly to the surface (hold for 10 seconds)
  • Step 4: Snap the LED light strip onto the magnetic mount
  • Step 5: Plug in your battery adapter and you're done
💡 Pro Tip: The magnetic mount means you can easily remove and reposition the light anytime—no commitment, no damage.

Will this work with my specific battery model?
Compatibility

LockLite works with ALL 18V batteries from these major brands:

  • Milwaukee M18 (all models, including older generations)
  • DeWalt 20V MAX (DCB series)
  • Makita 18V LXT (BL series)
  • Ryobi ONE+ 18V (all models)
  • Hikoki 18V (BSL series)

What about aftermarket/knockoff batteries?
LockLite works with most aftermarket batteries, but we recommend using genuine brand batteries for optimal performance and safety.

⚠️ Important: Select your battery brand when ordering—each kit comes with the correct adapter for your battery system.

How long does the battery actually last?
Performance

Runtime depends on your battery capacity. Here's the breakdown:

  • 2.0Ah battery: 3-4 hours of continuous use
  • 3.0Ah battery: 4-5 hours of continuous use
  • 5.0Ah battery: 6-8 hours of continuous use
  • 6.0Ah+ battery: 8-10+ hours of continuous use

Real-world usage: Most tradies use LockLite intermittently throughout the day (turn on when accessing toolbox, turn off when working). With typical use, a 5.0Ah battery can last multiple days.

🔋 Battery Saver Tip: LockLite has a built-in switch on both the light AND the adapter, so you can easily turn it off when not in use.

Note: LockLite does NOT have low-voltage protection built-in. Always monitor your battery level to prevent deep discharge. Low-voltage protection available separately.

How bright is it? Can I actually see my tools clearly?
Performance

LockLite produces 900 lumens of bright, even illumination.

To put that in perspective:

  • 🚗 Your truck's dome light: ~50-100 lumens
  • 🔦 Standard flashlight: ~300-500 lumens
  • 💡 LockLite: 900 lumens

What does this mean for you?
You'll see every tool, every bolt, every detail—even in complete darkness. No more squinting. No more phone flashlights. No more guessing.

Color Temperature: 6000K daylight white (same as natural sunlight) for accurate color rendering—critical for electrical work and color-coded tools.

Is it really waterproof? Can I pressure wash my truck?
Durability

Yes, LockLite is IP67 rated—fully waterproof and dustproof.

What IP67 means:

  • ✅ Can be submerged in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes
  • ✅ Completely dust-tight (no particles can enter)
  • ✅ Safe for rain, hose-down, and wet environments
  • ⚠️ Not designed for direct pressure washing (high-pressure jets can damage adhesive)

Real-world durability:

  • Survives Australian summers (tested up to 140°F / 60°C)
  • Handles freezing winters (tested down to -4°F / -20°C)
  • Vibration-resistant (tested on rough job site roads)
  • UV-resistant casing (won't yellow or crack in sunlight)
IP67 Certified Waterproof
Will the adhesive hold up? What about vibration from driving?
Durability

LockLite uses industrial-grade 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive—the same adhesive used to mount skyscraper glass panels.

Dual mounting system:

  • Magnetic base: Holds the light strip securely (easily removable for cleaning or repositioning)
  • 3M VHB adhesive: Permanently bonds the magnetic mount to your surface

Tested for extreme conditions:

  • ✅ 10,000+ miles of rough road testing
  • ✅ Holds in -20°C to 60°C temperature range
  • ✅ Tested on corrugated truck beds, smooth toolboxes, and textured canopies
🔧 Surface Prep is Key: Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol before installation. This ensures maximum adhesion and prevents failure.

What if it does come loose?
Contact us and we'll send you replacement adhesive strips for free. But in 3+ years and 10,000+ installations, adhesive failure is extremely rare when properly installed.

Can I run multiple lights from one battery?
Installation

Yes! LockLite's quick-connect system lets you run up to 4 lights from a single battery adapter.

How it works:

  • Each light has a quick-connect port
  • Daisy-chain additional lights together
  • Maximum: 4 lights per adapter (2400mm / ~8 feet of total lighting)

Battery impact:
Running multiple lights will reduce battery runtime proportionally. For example, 2 lights will drain the battery twice as fast as 1 light.

💡 Pro Setup: Many customers run 2 lights in their toolbox (one on each side) for complete illumination. A 5.0Ah battery still gives 3-4 hours of runtime with this setup.
Will this void my battery warranty?
Compatibility

No. Using LockLite will not void your battery warranty.

Why? LockLite draws power the same way your power tools do—through the standard battery terminals. There's no modification to the battery itself.

Safety features:

  • ✅ Voltage regulation prevents overload
  • ✅ Low current draw (3-4 amps max)
  • ✅ No risk of short circuit (built-in protection)

Important note: LockLite does NOT have low-voltage protection built-in. If you drain your battery too low, it could damage the battery. We recommend purchasing our optional low-voltage protection module ($15) for peace of mind.

⚠️ Best Practice: Don't leave LockLite running unattended for extended periods. Always turn it off when not in use to prevent battery deep discharge.
